Easy Rotisserie Chicken Thai Coconut Curry (Whole30 & Paleo!)

nothing will teach you how to improvise quite like a Parisian kitchen - at least that’s been my experience living here for six months. our apartment has a teeny tiny little (though very cute!) kitchen, and it’s nearly impossible for both me and my husband to be in there at the same time. since the “oven” in our place is pretty much a countertop convection thing that is incredibly janky, i’ve been trying my hand at as many simple stovetop recipes as possible, and this one is my new favorite.

Roundup: Cropped Jeans are Fresh for Fall

when i moved to France this year, i had to pack pretty lightly considering the tiny size of our ‘pied-a-terre.’ as you might imagine based on my closet makeover posts, minimalism isn’t exactly something i’ve successfully embraced yet, so this was a challenge. on the denim front, this meant only 4 pairs of jeans made the cut (sidenote: my husband brought ONE pair of jeans total for this entire year in France). this past month, i kept seeing cropped jeans and kick flare jeans everywhere in Paris, and decided i could make room for pair #5.

Sequins & Over-the-Knee Boots Season

with cooler temps around the corner, we’re soaking up every last bit of lingering sunshine and warm, early fall weather. today we’re sharing some outfit inspo for those fall days and date nights that don’t quite require major layers just yet. this is a bit of a maximalist take on the mini dress + over-the-knee boots combo, a frequent favorite for us.

5 Places to Get a Truly Legit Coffee in Paris

Paris is a city known for an endless list of amazing things- its beautiful light, the history, the hundreds of artists and writers who have created masterpieces there…the list goes on. one thing i didn’t realize until moving over here is that until recently, this city hasn’t necessarily been known for their coffee. i learned this relatively quickly, as it wasn’t long before i discovered that it was indeed possible to order a disappointing cappuccino. disappointing baguette? almost never. but the coffee scene was something that took me a minute to navigate.

Record Players 10 Ways: Show Off Your Epic Collection

when my husband turned 30, my gift to him was a record player and a bunch of records i had collected over the course of a long US tour. it was one of those things he'd been wanting for awhile, but it was admittedly also one of those gifts that i was really excited to benefit from myself. even though we have all the music we could ever want in our pockets at all times now, i still think there is something so cool about coming home, pouring a glass of wine, and putting on a great record. i really miss album art too, and there's something about having those 12x12 sleeves on a shelf or ready to flip through in a crate by the fireplace that's so nostalgic and cool.

Currently Loving: Easels As Home Decor

i got my first easel in high school when i was taking a bunch of painting and art classes, and over ten years later it's still a mainstay in my house. i have a bigger one that i use for actual painting now, but i kept my OG easel because a couple apartments ago i realized what a versatile decor piece it can be. It perfectly it fills out awkward corners, and when an area or vignette needs a little height it's the perfect addition!

Color Crush: Terracotta

today's color crush post is down to earth AF- literally. i'm so into all of the natural, earthy tones popping up all over the place lately, and terracotta is my current standout fave. it's showing up in home decor, textiles, makeup, and even workout gear right now, and it gives everything such an inviting warmth. another thing i love about this color? it pretty much works all year round, season to season.

Bold Shoulder: Silver and Gray Edition

although i tend to consider myself a pretty good sport when it comes to taking fashion risks, there is one risk in particular i've never been a big fan of- poofy shoulders. the main reason i've steered mostly clear of this look up until now is that it typically looks a little ridiculous on my frame, and it just felt impractical. but enter this poofy shoulder metallic bodysuit? i just might call myself converted.

Closet Makeover Diaries: Mood Board

given that i knew i’d be moving overseas and putting everything in storage this year, i decided one of my major goals would be a serious closet overhaul. admittedly, i've tried just about everything in the closet overhaul department - shoe racks of all shapes and sizes, folding my jeans, hanging my jeans, having a special trunk at the base of my bed just for jeans (not a thing that works FYI) - and i was starting to get a little discouraged. maybe i just wasn't the type of person who could successful tame her closet?? maybe i'm forever doomed to the dreaded 'i have nothing to wear' territory? i figured having your closet shit together was for people who fold their underwear and brush their teeth for the recommend full three minutes.

Travel Journaling: Inspiration and Supplies

when i was a kid, i used to bring a little notebook along on vacation (more than likely it was some super lit Lisa Frank one) and write about all the stuff we did on our trip. i SO wish i knew where those notebooks were. not only does travel journaling help you preserve awesome memories, it also provides a really cool on-the-go creative outlet. i find that when i'm traveling, i don't get as many chances to be creative unless i'm really mindful about it, and this new style of travel journaling that seems to be all over insta just might be the answer. the notebooks are small, easy to pack, and the pages are blank which means endless possibilities. my favorite journals are the ones that combine writing/diary entries, photos, and sketching or drawing.

Decor Files: In Praise of Pennant Flags

as an avid fan of any and all things related to a good gallery wall, i'm always on the lookout for cool new additions to my many vignettes of cool and collected wall art. lately i feel like i keep seeing a resurgence of felt pennant flags everywhere, and i'm COMPLETELY obsessed. one of the reasons i love these as wall art is that there's a certain nostalgia about them, and another reason is that they're incredibly easy to hang (hello renter friendly!). the triangular shapes are cool and help break up a wall full of rectangle frames, plus there are tons of awesome small designers out there making really beautiful and creative pennant designs with all kinds of fun phrases. i honestly cannot stop buying these.

DIY to Try: 6 Easy Planter Projects

with spring in full swing, i'm diving deeper than ever into my houseplant obsession. i regularly stress dream about my fiddle leaf fig, and i'm not sure if i should be admitting that on the internet but it's true. plants have brightened up my house so much, and they're kind of like tattoos (strangely addicting) so once you start it's tough to stop. since the weather's getting warmer, i'm also getting ready to outfit my balcony with a few new plant adoptions, and i've been on the hunt for some fun, relatively easy ways to DIY some cool planters. luckily, the internet overfloweth with such ideas.

But First Coffee: 12 Coffee Bars to Copy

some girls grow up pinning pictures of their future wedding dresses, but if pinning was a thing when i was growing up i think i would have pinned coffee bar ideas. well...ok. to be fair, i didn't even drink coffee til i was a senior in high school, but i stand by the fact that i have always felt and still currently feel that the ultimate benchmark of having a truly legit adult household is not a king size bed, or a dining room table, or matching dishes, but a coffee bar. the only thing that could be better than coffee itself (ok nothing can be better, but these bars are on par) is a beautifully organized and incredibly cool designated spot for it.

Photo Diary: Cinque Terre Part II

a couple weeks ago, i shared part I of my Cinque Terre photo diary from earlier this year. this was undoubtedly one of my favorite trips i've ever taken, and considering i've been walking around NYC this week in 24 degree weather i thought it might be time to share more photos of these summery, sun-drenched italian shores. for the second part of our time in Cinque Terre, we stayed in Manarola, one town north of Riomaggiore (where we spent the first part of the trip). we did a lot of hiking along the cliffs which was breathtakingly beautiful, and ate an outrageous amount of pasta. so hopefully those canceled each other out. here are some highlights:

Double Duty Design: Surfboard Decor

while i'm definitely not one of those people who thinks every single thing in your house needs to be functional to earn its place there, i do love me some double duty home decor- aka, stuff that looks awesome as decor but also serves another purpose. being a cali girl, i feel like i see surfboards everywhere- and lately i'm loving the way they can make a big design statement in or outside when they're not out on the waves.

Photo Diary: Cinque Terre Part I

this past spring i checked off one of my major bucket list destinations: cinque terre in the liguria region of italy. it was even more beautiful than all the photos i've seen, and the people (and the FOOD. and the WINE.) were absolutely incredible. i have so many photos from this trip that i'll be sharing them in two batches, but here are some highlights from my first couple days. i stayed in riomaggiore (the southernmost of the five little towns) for the first part of my trip, and it was totally magical.

Decor Files: Four Poster Beds Galore

time for another decor files favorite: the four poster bed. i think a four poster bed is without a doubt one of the most glamorous and luxurious investments one could possibly make. maybe it stems back to when i was a little kid (as do most things i'm obsessed with) because i had one and it was the bomb. it didn't have the horizontal bars across the top, but it had these wooden pegs on the top of each of the four posts, and you could take them out, put a sheet over the top, and then shove the pegs back in so the sheet created a canopy type thing. not sure that made any sense whatsoever the way i just described it but trust me, it was awesome.

Festival Ready: Leather, Studs and Stars

it may only be the beginning of March, but that means festival season is right around the corner. shops are all starting to stock up on suede, fringe, and boho prints and we're loving every minute of it. festival fashion is kind of my vibe year round, so i usually end up finding some of my favorite wardrobe staples during this time of year. the look i'm sharing today is my favorite way to do festival- comfy and easy, yet definitely above and beyond my everyday vibe. this studded vest (plus some of my fave enamel pins from my collection) was the perfect topper for an easy printed dress, and finishing it off with embellished booties and a gold leather headband pulled everything together.
