Kate's New Studio: Inspiration and Plans

The most fun part of the moving process for me is always designing all the rooms and making decor choices, and since we moved into our new place I’ve been super excited to figure out what I want to do with my new studio and home office! Kate here, and today I’m sharing all my inspiration and plans for this new space.

If you follow my personal iG you may have seen my stories last week all about picking the right wall color. I think I ended up bringing home a total of 14 paint samples (!), but I finally found the right one. Besides figuring out the wall color, I’ve been working on a lot of other ideas for the space- including a really fun built-in bookcase hack with IKEA Billy bookshelves! I can’t wait to share that DIY on here when it’s all done.

10 Ways To Make A Gorgeous Mood Board

nothing amps me up for a new project like a beautifully executed mood board above my work space. i could honestly scroll through #moodboardporn for DAYS. though i'm obviously a huge fan of wasting hours of my life pinning on Pinterest in bed, glass of wine in hand, i'm also a very firm believer in cutting shit out of magazines and making real, live pin boards. i try to switch my real live mood board up a couple times a year whenever i feel like i need a refresh, and i gotta tell you, it's kind of like changing the background pic on your phone or your laptop- simple, pretty quick, yet LIFE CHANGING. all of a sudden i start seeing things from another angle and i'm off to the races with creative vibes and ideas.

Color Crush: Cobalt Blue

a few months ago, my husband and I took a road trip up the Cali coast. we stopped off at hearst castle, which is this huge ass castle that a guy named hearst built for fun because he was rich and loved the views from the top of the hill (probably more to the story than that but that's pretty much all i remember from the tour). i guess i was too busy obsessing over the unbelievable floors
