Room Tour: Kate's Main Bedroom
Since we’re all spending a significant amount of time on the home front lately, I thought I’d start sharing some much requested room tours from my LA home. Kate here, and I’m excited to share our main bedroom with you guys today!
My husband Brett and I have lived in a ton of different apartments and parts of the city over the years (in addition to spending a few years in Nashville and one in Paris), and I have to say that this is the first house we’ve ever lived in that has all the elements of what feels like a ‘grown up’ main bedroom.
It has tons of natural light, enough room for a king bed (which has never even come close to happening before), hardwood floors, and tons of original charm. I absolutely love it!
The layout of this room is so perfect because it’s not only just large enough to fit our king bed, but it also has a perfect space for my low dresser.
We’ve always lived in apartments with very little space for any furniture other than a bed in the bedrooms, so this dresser has made up for what this house lacks (and I mean really lacks) in closet space.
I shared a post not too long ago about how I organize and keep track of all my jewelry on my dresser, and it’s nice to actually get a chance to display it so I can see everything!
The room has just enough space for two small nightstands, and to keep the clutter to a minimum we decided to go with plug-in sconces on either side of the bed vs. table lamps.
The essentials I always keep on my nightstand include:
Aesop hand lotion - smells amazing and great for dry LA weather. I never travel without it either!
Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask - my fave hydrating night cream and leave-on face mask in one
Mason Pierson hairbrush - one of the best self-care indulgences I own! It’s heavenly to use.
Laneige lip mask - feels luxurious and so great for keeping lips from getting chapped
French Girl lip scrub - great companion to the lip mask and helps exfoliate lips
Pineapple catch-all dish - great for when I forget to take out earrings and am too lazy to put them back on the dresser!

I debated a lot about whether to have a TV in our room. We’ve had one in our bedroom on and off over the years - in some houses it works out, and in others there’s nowhere to put one so we skip it.
I sort of hate the eyesore of a TV in general, but I also feel really strongly that a space needs to feel comfy, warm, and livable - so ultimately we decided to indulge our TV binging habit and put one in the bedroom.
The dark blue velvet blackout curtains help balance out the stark contrast of a big TV against a white wall, and adding the little shelf above the TV to display some pretty art and photos REALLY helps - my favorite is the ‘un deux trois’ print!
I can’t pretend like it’s always this clean, but having a cozy main bedroom that inspires me is definitely a huge motivation to keep it tidy!
