Photo Diary: Barcelona Part I
one of the major highlights of 2016 was my ten day trip to Barcelona. ever since i first saw photos of Gaudi's Park Güell architecture, this city has been at the very top of my bucket list. though we were tempted to max out our trip with as many cities in Spain as we could, we decided to just spend ten whole days in Barcelona and it was truly the best decision ever. we did this same thing when I first went to Rome in 2010, and it REALLY allowed us to slow down and get to know the city. if you're planning on heading to Barcelona anytime soon (or anywhere awesome for that matter) i'd highly recommend spending as much time in one place as possible if you're like me and love to wander and explore. since we were hanging in the city for 10 days, we decided to split up our trip and do half of it by the beach and half in another hood.
here are some highlights from the first part of our trip spent at the W Barcelona right on the beach:
here are some of my fave spots from the above pics:
bodega 1900 for incredible tapas (book in advance, it fills up fast!) - if you eat a variety of different things and you're down for a little surprise, just ask them to basically have the chef decide for you in terms of what you order. we did this and it was SO GOOD and SO WORTH IT.
mercat la boqueria - most famous and biggest market in the city. awesome for a snack, some iberico ham, or a refreshing juice mid-day
bogatell beach, and xiringuito escriba for food and drinks (if you wanna be luxe pay a little extra to sip your cocktail on the beach on one of their chaises)
el born neighborhood, and miramelindo for mojitos - loved the vibe of this spot (we were there in the pic of Brett with the cigar above) and their mojitos are ON POINT. also, there is some fab shopping nearby in the el born neighborhood
maestró in the eixample neighborhood - amazing apps and great craft beer flights with a really cute outdoor seating area that's awesome for people watching on a sunny day
have you ever been to Barca? planning on going soon?? i can't wait to go back, so share your fave spots!
