This Churro French Toast Kit is Our New Obsession
Despite the fact that i’ve definitely been cooking and baking far more than I ever have in my life during quarantine, I haven’t yet been brave enough to jump on the bread baking train. Until now, that is. Kate here, and today I’m excited to share my new breakfast obsession - Churro French Toast!
More specifically, I’m talking about this Homemade Churro French Toast Kit that my good friend Jeremy Fall created in collaboration with Mr. Holmes Bakehouse. Their site offers an awesome selection of DIY baking kits and I’m super excited to try another one after successfully making this insanely delicious French Toast last weekend.
If you’ve been following the blog for awhile, you’re probably well aware that it’s my sister, Courtney, who is the baking pro at We The Dreamers. I really love to cook, but baking has always intimidated me like crazy.
To be honest, I wasn’t sure I would be able to pull off this French Toast recipe. Making brioche bread from scratch sounded super exciting in theory, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t more than skeptical about my ability to get it right on the first try.
But you know what? It turned out AMAZING. I mean I seriously think this is the best French Toast I have ever had in my life and I cannot believe I’m saying that about something I baked myself. So because this Churro French Toast was that delicious, I felt like I had to write a blog post about my experience making it.
Another reason I wanted to highlight this particular kit is because Jeremy is partnering with Frontline Foods to donate 25% of proceeds from his at home Churro French Toast kit to Black-owned businesses and communities impacted by the protests nationwide. Delicious breakfast and an amazing cause all in one!
I loved making this so much that I created a little time-lapse video of the process:
We’re working on getting a YouTube channel up and running for WTD, but for now you can subscribe to my personal channel for more lifestyle videos like this coming soon!
The kit comes in a super cute, compact box and includes everything you need to make the French Toast aside from a few super simple wet ingredients.
The bags of dry ingredients are all labeled and correspond to the different steps, and the instructions come in a really cute booklet that lays out the whole process really well. It even includes a QR code that takes you to a step-by-step how-to video (which I definitely consulted more than once lol).
One of the most fun parts of making this recipe was that it gave me an excuse to get my KitchenAid mixer out of the moving boxes!
My house is still a gargantuan mess (which you probably already know from this post) and while normally I would wait to make something this involved until we were more moved in it was SO FUN to just dive in and make it anyways despite the mess.
Since the recipe involves making brioche bread from scratch and the dough needs to chill overnight, I found that making this on a Friday night and Saturday morning was the best move.
We had just picked up some fresh mango from a new market in our neighborhood, and it was the perfect compliment to the French Toast.
This recipe was honestly ridiculously good, and if someone like me who rarely bakes can pull it off you absolutely can too!
Check it out here if you’re looking for a fun weekend project!
Have you guys tried any at-home recipe kits during the pandemic craziness??
