How To Make 4 Cute Cold Weather Outfits with One Top

remember putting together cute outfits?? I have to admit that I probably took a good six months off of anything that could be considered a ‘cute outfit’ this year, but with the weather changing I’m starting to get excited about putting together winter outfits!

Kate here, and today I’m sharing four cute cold weather outfit ideas that you can put together using the same basic top. These outfits all work with the same pair of shoes too, because after spending my life living out of little carry-on suitcases (find my carry-on packing tips here) I’ve become a superfan of versatile closet staples.

The basic top I’m using as the foundation of all four outfits in this post is a plain, fitted, long-sleeve mock neck top in a creamy white color. You could pretty much use any neutral color though!

I love pairing all of these outfits with black lace-up boots (these are the exact ones I’m wearing - more options linked at the end of this post!) because they can be dressed up or down so easily.

If you’re planning on traveling at all this winter, try packing pieces this that work with multiple outfit ‘formulas’ so you can keep your bags light but still change up your look. I paired the same statement necklace with all 4 outfits too, because while I love having a jewelry collection I hate packing a ton of stuff that could get tangled when I travel.

Here are the four outfit formulas I created with this cream long sleeve top and a pair of black lace up boots!

1. Cream Long Sleeve Top + Blazer + Jeans & Boots

This outfit formula is a total staple for me during the chillier months. I love adding a statement necklace to a top like this because it stands out enough that you don’t really need any other jewelry.

2. Cream Long Sleeve Top + Short Skirt + Tights & Boots

While jeans are always my go-to, I’m trying to be more of a skirt and dress person too. A great pair of black tights make it super easy (and warm enough) to wear shorter skirts and dresses in the cooler seasons!

3. Cream Long Sleeve Top + Wide Leg Pants & Boots

These velvet pants are one of my favorite closet staples because they’re SO comfy while also making a big statement.

They only have a couple sizes in stock but here’s a link to my pants.

4. Cream Long Sleeve Top + Minidress + Tights & Boots

All the Victorian fashion vibes everywhere have me inspired to try layering high neck tops under lower cut neck tops and dresses, and I love how the turtleneck contrasts the sweetheart neckline of this dress.

As someone who is always cold this layering technique is also an awesome way to be able to wear a long sleeve dress in cooler temps!

This is the exact dress I’m wearing, although I think they only have one or two sizes in stock right now. I’ve linked lots of similar styles below though!
