Extreme Pantry Makeover Part 2 - Custom Built-In Closet Shelves, Pre-Pasted Wallpaper Tips

Spring is officially here, and with it, episode 2 of my Extreme Pantry Makeover!

Extreme room makeovers are and always will be among the many things I believe in celebrating year-round, but there's something about an extreme room refresh to ring in the spring season that just feels so....fresh.

On Being A Wallflower

…and the perks of putting flowers all over my walls

If you're new here or haven't had a chance to catch the first installment of this pantry makeover series, I'm currently in the midst of ambitiously transforming a terribly dysfunctional tiny closet into a mini butler's pantry.

Though it has in fact showered my walls in flowers, the wallpaper we installed in this episode is no wallflower in and of itself. I wanted to go bold, busy, and romantically moody with this whole space, and this pattern DELIVERED. It's so satisfying to watch the time-lapse of it slowly climbing up the walls of the closet.

On the subject of wallflowers, I have always kind of counted myself among them. Comfortable inhabiting the role of artist, dreamer, observer - and uncertain if that barred me from being other, less wallflower-like things.

This episode was a fun chance for me to challenge those notions, because it's the first time I've really allowed myself to try getting behind the power tools on my own.

I've been dying to learn the basics for years and always felt too intimidated, but with the help of my very knowledgeable (and very patient lol) dad, I took the first step toward figuring something out that had, until this point, been far outside my comfort zone.

Donning a janky pair of safety goggles that have been squished under a bunch of other random shit in my garage for months, I kept laughing at how my iphone Face ID failed to recognize me. But honestly? I kind of didn't recognize me either. And that was cool.

For all the details on how we built DIY custom closet shelves for the pantry, wallpapering tips, AND a bonus unhinged video from the time my drummer got stuck in a fence after we played The Tonight Show (it's relevant to the vlog, I promise), head on over to my YouTube channel to watch!
